Henry Williams epitomizes everything a Charlotte 49er should be, on and off the court. Tough, poised, driven and a leader to his team like no other.  During his freshmen season, on a national stage against West Virginia, he ripped out 20 points as if to make the announcement “I'm here”. As one of Charlotte's most prolific 3 point shooters, he still stands as king of the hill in terms of scoring.

As an example of his toughness and his desire to put the team first, he'd play through significant injuries and never let his team down. Perhaps the most notable was when he received 64 stitches in his forehead, and played in the team's next game….36 hours later!

At the end of his career with the Niners, Williams is still sitting at the top of the all-time leading scorers and holds the record of 65 games where he scored at least 20 points, averaging 20.2 points per game.

Life After College

Henry was drafted by the Spurs in 1992, although spend most of his professional career in Italy. Upon retiring from professional basketball, he served as on-air talent for the Charlotte Bobcats and is the Pastor of the New Zion Missionary Church (Charlotte, NC). Despite developing some health issues, he continues to battle through them like the tough, driven man he has always been. As of 2014, his positive influence led him to the role of Director of Player Development on Alan Major's staff….back home, where he belongs….at UNC Charlotte.
